Two Brains Wasted

Today, single women suspect men of the worst. It’s true. No matter how sincere and honest a guy a man might be, he’s still suspect by gender, even by the most optimistic of women. Imagine two good buddies in Hawaii: Though professionally as different as the night and day, they have in common a weariness of dating tourists and cynical women. Both these guys long for a real woman with whom they can share a quality life no matter if it's on the Big Island or elsewhere.

Two Brains Wasted follows the escapades of our protagonists on the adventure of encountering and and attempting to sustain quality relationships with quality women. They seek women who can look beyond cars, money, body build and place their trust in the fact that one man is all they need to be happy in love. Good luck with that.

The script tracks the kinds of strange things that people encounter in real dating life. Will it render a happy ending? That depends upon the choices made by our lead characters, Adam Burns an astronomer at Gemini Observatory who discovers new planets for a living, and his best bud, Ben Bayley, surf shop owner. We follow Adam and Ben through tourist encounters and the meeting of two promising mainland contenders. When Adam speaks out against NASA policies and a shark attack ruins Ben’s business, it looks like moving to Arizona and increased proximity to recently met relationship contenders will work out famously. Well, it would if one of the contenders wasn’t bipolar, needing two hands to carry all her baggage and the other a never-at-home flight attendant. Once in Arizona, things work well for Ben while Adam’s life goes to hell in a hand basket. It appears the long term buddies must separate and live in different places.

Back in Hawaii,Adam’s colleague, Lucy, keeps him apprised of developments at Gemini Observatory that hinge upon his work. She provides him with enough information to make the grandest discovery of all, which demands his return to very place that demoted him and a boss that can't stand the sight of him. Given his recent love encounter with a very unstable woman, a fresh start seems like the plan, even if it is back where he started. There, Adam comes to realize that what he wanted right in front of him - both in the heavens and on earth.

Originally written as the antidote for Wedding Crashers, see if you can envision Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson acting out the script’s plot points. If you can, you’ll probably see a winner.
